Since independence we have been taught the virtue of unity in diversity; in other words virtues of our differences. We have, however, not been taught ‘how same we are’ – our common civilizational roots & values of home grown religions; our common heroes who gave their lives protecting these values, protecting our common beliefs, our temples, our beliefs & what we stood for.

The ongoing battle for building the ‘Ram Mandir’ at Ayodhya is a part of this cunning to deny us Indian Religionists the belief of continuity of our civilization, our heroes and our sameness.

In their idea of India if the majority gave up their claims of the continuity of their civilization, it would somehow usher in a social harmony. Infact, it has exactly the opposite effect. India will be built, when the people of common ancestry find their heroes not in the deserts of Arabia but in the banks of the Indus-Saraswati.

The building of the Ram Mandir at Ayodhya is a long overdue necessary assertion of pluralistic & inclusive Indic values & beliefs culture & traditions, on all people living on this land.
