षष्ठी, Ṣaṣṭhī is goddess who protects children — her vāhana is cat. Similar goddess Hārītī (picture 1st c. BCE Gandhara) known as Kishimojin (鬼子母神) in Japan. Art historian Timothy Taylor sees the braided woman in Gundestrup cauldron (BCE) to be Hārītī. pic.twitter.com/sij9c5FD2U

Other images on the Gundestrup cauldron found in Denmark (~100 BCE) include Shiva-Pashupati (like Harappan seal), Lakshmi (adored by elephants), and Vishnu. Believed to have been fashioned by Thracian silversmiths. pic.twitter.com/mRTfyTcDqs
