Do you know?
Shah Jahan's eldest son Dara Shukoh, the true heir of throne, had religious inclinations towards hinduism.
Other sons of Shah Jahan including Aurangzib, despised him.
Aurangzib, in his manifesto for the denouncement of Dara as the heir of throne, wrote pic.twitter.com/BHB1052iXn

– Dara consorted with Brahmins, yogis and sanyasis – he considered them as perfect spiritual guides and "Knowers of God".
He also regarded the Vedas as divine books and spent his days in translating and learning them. He also learnt sanskrit for this purpose. pic.twitter.com/wp7nCZJmUM— The Narrator (@irudragaur) August 9, 2019
– He wore rings and jewels that were inscribed with the word Prabhu(प्रभु) in hindi letters.
– He used to discard prayers and fasts during the month of Ramzan plus other canonical ceremonies related to Islam.

His argument was, that all these Islamic practices were necessary for spiritually undeveloped – while he believed himself to be a man of perfect knowledge regarding God.
– He also created a Persian version of "Upanishads", with the help of a band of pandits. pic.twitter.com/HagpMpol2F

His main aim behind all these practices was to find a meeting point, for Hinduism and Islam.
Fascinating. Isn't it?
Aurangzib on the other hand was a staunch believer of Islam. He thought of himself as the champion of Islamic orthodoxy.

This is said to be another reason, for the clash between both of them. Later, Aurangzib killed Dara Shukoh, chopped off his head and sent it to Shah Jahan. pic.twitter.com/hujZEfS9Jc
