History textbooks are filled with the Navratna of Akbar, but there is little discussion of Maharaja Vikramaditya and his Navratnas. The truth is that these 9 were the real and First Navratnas & only to Imitate Maharaja Vikramaditya, Akbar created his Navratnas.

1– Dhanvantari-
His place has been counted among the Navaratnas. There are nine books written by him. All of them are related to Ayurveda & medical science. He was a great master of medicine. Even today, if a doctor is to be praised, then he is compared to Great ‘Dhanvantari’.

2– Kalidas –
Kalidasa was the beloved poet of Emperor Vikramaditya. He got his knowledge by the grace of ma Kali hence the name Kalidasa. Kalidasa’s scholarship and poetic talent still don’t find any match. His four poems and three plays are famous. Shakuntala was his last work.

3– Amarsingh-
A great scholar & the builder of Bodh Gaya Temple. he wrote many books including Amarkosh. There is a sanskrit phrase that ‘Ashtadhyayi’ is the mother of the pundits and ‘Amarkosh’ is the father of the pundits. if one reads these 2 texts, he becomes a great scholar.
4– Varahamihira –
Indian astrology has always been proud of him. He has authored many books. Among them his main books are Brihajjataka, Suryasiddhant, Brihaspati Samhita, Panchsiddhanti. Ganak Tarangini, Laghu-Jataka, Samaasa Samhita, Vivah Panel, Yoga Yatra etc.

5– Vetalabhatta –
The story of Vikram & Vetal is world famous. He was the author of ‘Vetal Panchvinshati’, It is proved from ‘Vetaal-Pachisi’ that how much Vetalabhatta was affected by the supremacy of Emperor Vikram, his only creation available.
6– Ghatkharpar –
‘Ghatkharpar’ can’t be the name of a person. He took a vow that any poet who would defeat them in anupras and yamak poetry, then he would fill water at his home with a broken pitcher. Hence the name ‘Ghatkharpar’. He wrote famous ‘Ghatkharpar Kavyam’ & ‘Nitisar’.
V7– क्षपणक
A Buddhist monk. it proves that in ancient times, ministership was not a means of livelihood, but the council of ministers was formed with the spirit of public welfare hence sannyasis were the core members of the cabinet. His only books avl ‘Bhikshatan’ & ‘Nanarthkosh’.
8– Shanku –
His full name is Shakuk. His only poetic text Bhuvanabhyudayam has been very famous. He is considered among the greatest scholars of Sanskrit.
9– Vararuchi-
Vararuchi is also counted among great poets of his time. Saduktikarnamrit, Subhashitavali and Sharngadhara Samhita are counted among his works. VaraRuchi was a great Astro Physicist. He invented the concept of “Dip of the Horizon”, that too without using any equipment, with just naked eye.
