India's Stories From Indian Perspectives

Reestablishing Indic Narratives / Retelling Indian History

About

Until the story of the hunt is told by the Lion, the tale of the hunt will always glorify the hunter ~ African proverb

This platform is an effort to tell India’s stories from India’s perspectives. Our history text books tell us stories of the colonizers — Islamic and later the British. Stories of local heroes such as Lochit Borphukan or Birsa Munda or Marthanda Varma are unknown to the rest of the country unless one belongs to the region they belonged to. It would not be incorrect to say that Amar Chitra Katha has done a better job of telling us storiesof our heroes than our leftist-academics’ written histories we are taught at school.

Our history books not only tell of the colonisers’ perspectives, but actually are full of propaganda and blatant lies. Ashoka having converted to Buddhism after the Kalinga war, or making a hero out of the Islamist iconoclast Tipu Sultan, or complete silence on the brilliant Vijaynagar Empire while filling chapter after chapter on each Mughal king, are some examples of propagandist history promoted under the tutelage of the early rulers and their leftist-historians of the country.

India is a civilizational nation. As a people born into this civilization, Indian Religionists (people born into or having adopted home-grown Indian religions) have an unsaid duty to preserve & promote it’s civilizational values, religions, philosophies, culture, temples, and its histories.

For decades we have been taught how we are diverse, in other words, how we are different from each other, and yet agree to ‘tolerate’ each other and live together. What is not taught to us is how we’ve been the same for thousands of years; we’ve not been taught that there seems to be a continuity in how we live, how we built our cities, what we wore, what we worshipped and valued since the Indus-Saraswati Civilization. On the contrary there is a determined unending campaign, inspite of scientific evidence that shows otherwise, to prove that the Aryans were from outside — as if somehow that would justify the all the invaders and alien religions coming into India and occupying it’s spaces and effectively undermining the existence of the Indian civilization itself.

‘Indic Tales’ is an effort to change all this. Join us! We’re looking for volunteers, interns and even professionals from backgrounds such as media, journalism, teaching, writing, to work in employment capacity for this common civlizational cause.
